This website is an independent educational project. It is not an official publication of, or affiliated with, any government, religious institution, university, archive, museum, news organization or other source referenced on the site.

Historical subjects involving religion, ethnicity, nationalism, war, persecution and political conflict can be disputed or sensitive. The site aims to identify specific governments, rulers, armies, organizations and communities rather than assigning collective responsibility to an entire religion or people.

Dates, casualty estimates, motives, terminology and interpretations may differ among historians and sources. Ancient and religious narratives may have different levels of independent historical or archaeological support. Where appropriate, timeline entries distinguish tradition, historical evidence and uncertainty.

The interactive comparison tools, Atlas connections, overlap labels, “World at this time,” and related-event suggestions are educational navigation aids. Proximity in time or geography does not by itself establish causation.

Research method

Individual timeline entries include their own source links and source-certainty notes whenever available. The project favors established reference works, museums, archives, universities, scholarly publications, international organizations and primary or official records. For current events, reputable news reporting and institutional documentation may also be used.

The site is a continuing research project. Entries may be corrected, expanded or reclassified as stronger evidence becomes available. A link appearing below means it is cited somewhere in the site's current timeline data; it does not mean the source endorses this website or every conclusion presented here.
